My “hijab story” is a time-line of hardship, pain and prayer. Alhamdulillah, all praise to Allah at all times. I’ve been blessed enough to go to Umrah three times. Alhamdulillah. There is no question that going to Mecca and seeing the Ka’ba is an emotional and breathtaking experience. Every time I returned from the Holy Land, I thought to myself, “That’s it! Recently, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala blessed me with one of those truly “Subhan Allah” moments! I was participating with my co-workers as a judge for an elementary school competition. My company had also helped mentor one school throughout the year. As we were saying our hellos to the school kids, I met little Ammar (the cutest kid ever, mashaAllah). When I met him, my reaction was “Aww, look at this young Muslim kid,” but he was so shy, he never said salam to me. He would just give me this weird smile, but he was so cute, mashaAllah, I really didn’t mind it.

Every time someone asks me how I became religious and so attached to Islam, I tell them about how Allah guided me through an amazing woman. About 6 years ago, my friends and I heard about a particular young woman who gives Islamic lessons at her house. We heard so many good things about her, how she’s so cool, and so much fun. The descriptions were amazing. When I heard the descriptions, I really wanted to meet this young woman. We decided to go to one of her “deen” lessons everyone has been talking about.
