Sunday Spotlight

A new initiative to promote positive Muslim endeavours around the World Wide Web and beyond.

As salaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullah dear Readers,

We will now be beginning a sub-project of IGIC inshaAllah called ‘Sunday Spotlight.’

We will feature a website, cause, or project on various Sundays which we have deemed to be worthy of promotion by the IGIC website. It may not be necessarily related to hijab but it would be something that our readers find interesting, bi’idhnillah. If you feel you want to submit something for being featured in Sunday Spotlight, please fill out the Contact form with your request inshaAllah. Not all requests will be posted.

For our very first post, we’d like to feature Global Deaf Muslim.

MashaAllah, this is an amazing project which ensures that the Qur’an reaches the hearts of all our Muslims – whether or not they can hear.

Quran in ASL aims to provide access to Islam for Deaf Muslims in North America. Deaf Muslims have long been excluded from accessing Islamic information as few within the Muslim community have knowledge of the language of the Deaf in North America – ASL (American Sign Language). The lack of communication between hearing and Deaf Muslims has prevented the spiritual and religious advancement of Deaf Muslims worldwide.

GDM (Global Deaf Muslim) was established by Deaf Muslim graduates to address the rights and needs of Deaf Muslims in North America and beyond. This latest initiative aims to provide access to the Qur’an in ASL so that Deaf Muslims, alongside their hearing brothers and sisters, can finally begin to learn about this sacred message from God – Allah (swt).

Please visit their website at and check out their videos on YouTube to see how you can participate in this noble cause.

JazakumAllahu khayran.
