Why are only 3 women allowed perfection but many men?
Also, if men and women should be separated for modesty, why were they being educated together in this story?

“And say to the believing women that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts and do not display their ornaments except what appears thereof, and let them wear their head-coverings over their bosoms, and not display their ornaments except to their husbands or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their women, or those whom their right hand possess, or the male servants not having need (of women), or the children who have not attained knowledge of what is hidden of women; and let them not strike their feet so that what they hide of their ornaments may be known; and turn to Allah (swt) all of you, O believers! so that you may be successful.” (24:31)

However the Quran states in Surah 24 Ayat 31: “….Say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty, that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what ordinarily appear. Thereof they should draw their veils over their bosom and not display their beauty…”

Sister, people don’t think – it is a commandment. Please see the comments below by Bint AbdelHamid – she explains why very clearly, mashaAllah. You aren’t stopped from clearing other facial hair – but eyebrows are specifically mentioned, definitely for a reason – which we may not fully understand. We need to bring people to Islam – the true, pure Islam – not one that has been changed to their likes and desires.

As she said at one point: “You’re absolutely right that Allah loves beauty; but we need to adjust our own conceptions of beauty to fit in with Allah’s, and not vice versa; I’m sure the most beautiful thing to Allah is that which contains the most obedience to Him. Additionally, whatever Allah and His Messenger, salla Allahu alayhi wasallam, came with – this is already the middle path. So if Islam forbids plucking eyebrows, leaving your eyebrows untouched IS the middle path, and there’s nothing extreme about it. “

why do people think plucking your eyebrows is haraam…its not…..see a long time ago persian women used to WAX OFF THEIR WHOLE EYEBROWS AND TATTOO THEM ON!. thats why we are told not to pluck our eyebrows and get tattoos……..but if your eyebrows are friggin caterpillars then not fixing them by giving them a NORMAL SHAPE….like dont go out and get your eyebrows super duper thin and weird. but honestly….we represent islam and with todays world we have to keep up with the dunya and with our deen at the same time. we represent muslim women and in todays world facial hair on women isn’t considered clean or professional. is that what you want to represent islam by???? PLZ REMEMBER WE WANT PEOPLE TO COME TO ISLAM NOT TURN AWAY FROM IT.

…my eyebrows look like fury slugs but i fear to even ‘tidy them’ as I fear our Creator more than I do the creation. After reading the comments and from past research I feel it is best to leave what is doubtful..In my heart I feel that it is not permissable, and Allah Knows Best, to Him I seek my reward for being patient inshallah. Sister Yasmin, thanks for your follow-up comment. I understand that the religion is not simply a matter of opinion, but of authentic evidence.

The word “nams – نَمْص” is the noun, whereas “namasa – نَمَصَ” is the verb.

Lisan al-’Arab defines the word “nams” as plucking. In fact, it uses the word “natf” (plucking, as you indicated) in the definition. Al-Qamoos al-MuHeet gives the first definition for “nams” as “natf ash-sha’r – the plucking of hair.”

When the Messenger salla Allahu alayhi wasallam said something is cursed — it is a very important issue. Nams constitutes a major sin. No one is ordaining anything new, sister. We’re simply following the Messenger’s words.

(By the way, a Hadith Qudsi can also be weak or fabricated, since it relies on a chain of transmission.)

And regarding your du’aa, Ameen. May Allah show us the truth as truth and enable us to follow it; and may He show us falsehood as falsehood and enable us to avoid it.
