Muslim Girl: The pictorial captures some of the negative things and hurtful comments sisters occasionally have to endure while wearing hijab. It’s a snapshot in the life of a sister, a split second that (in my mind) portrays the cruelty and ignorance of a few words spoken without regard.

You’re right. It’s different from the other pictorials (which are generally uplifting), but it says to our Muslim sisters: don’t worry, we all hear negative things sometimes. Hijab is still worth it in the end. Learn to laugh (the image takes a sad situation, and portrays it in an amusing light). And hopefully to others, it’s a depiction of the type of ignorance and unkind words they should avoid.

I really enjoy this pictorial. It’s gritty and powerful and real.
